The Twitter Negativity Wave

Posted in Uncategorized on January 11, 2010 by flyguytray

Recently, a dude was killed over a suspected “tweef” or “e-beef” or whatever the heck you wanna call it (See Here). Such a situation got me to pondering: “Is Twitter Ruining Lives?” The mood on twitter has completely changed since I first joined. There was a lot of blog sharing, inspiration, punchline jokes, sass, but very little actual negativity. Every tweet was out of fun and jest. Now, there is a lot of finger pointing, subliminal tweeting (i effin hate subliminal tweeting), “meet me of the timeline” moments, and so on and so forth.

I have to wonder how serious people are taking Twitter. I find it interesting that people dictate what people should or should not tweet. I myself have been guilty of that. Then I remembered that good ol “UNFOLLOW” button. I think people forget that it exist… There’s even a block button.. *Shrug* Go figure, who knew.

I see “be real”, or “Keep it 100″ all the time.. What I’ve come to realize is, ITS THE INTERNET. Not at all anything like the real world.. People can choose to be whomever they want to be. I know, I know, you should be the same in any arena. I share that same value. But reality is that it will never be like that on twitter or any other social networking site. Real Names, Locations, backgrounds, moments, memories are not required on twitter.

True statement: You control your timeline. I for one do not appreciate someone sassing me for no reason on twitter and normally i will graciously sass them right the hell back. But it is this mentality that lead to a man losing his life. There are plenty of things that can get you killed in this world (justly or unjustly); Twitter should not be one of them.

Kind of all over the place with this blog (as I usually am), sue me…

Marriage in America (spun from gay rights)

Posted in American Life, Politics with tags , , on October 14, 2009 by flyguytray

So, today I got a call from an Aussie friend of mine. He called to ask me about the Gay Rights march that happened this past weekend here in Washington DC (he is gay). I couldn’t answer any of his questions because I’m not gay so I didn’t attend. But we went on to discuss gay marriage and he said some very good stuff. He said “who gives a shit about gay marriage?” Mind you, homie is gay himself. His points in the conversation were quite real. He said what does a ceremony with a piece of paper honored by people you don’t even know and made official by 2 pieces of metal (rings) have to do with loving your partner with all that you are. And he is abso-fucking-lutely correct. Marriage is a word, nothing more nothing less. You don’t love a person more when you marry a person. Marriage is a ceremony, a big giant expensive display of affection. Now I know a lot of people will stand on the religious aspect of marriage. Well that’s fine and dandy comma but nowhere in the bible did it say you both have to sign a piece of paper that is to be recognized by the government and partially go broke on an elaborate ceremony which forces people to give you things and take time out of their own lives. And maybe its the commercialism of marriage that is effing up relationships and marriages today. There are thousands of books on marriage from people claiming to be experts. Countless songs. Beyonce’s “Put a ring on it” song will be the reason many chicks won’t get married. They think they “deserve” a ring.. Contrary to belief you do not. And if you base how much a man feels for you off the fact he will or will not marry you, you are dumb.. No sass but you are. Find a person who loves you for you. Who see’s your imperfections perfectly. Confess your love for one another. If you truly love someone you will not cheat or lie or harm them. Don’t need to say vowels for that. And if you are the religious all you have to do is seal yourself in marriage in front of god, not people you know and there guests. Marriage is a word, love is a feeling, an emotion, an action. And at the end of the day all a couple needs is love.

A quick blog about the way America should be run…

Posted in American Life, Politics on May 21, 2009 by flyguytray

I’ve been contemplating this blog for quite sometime now. I never really did it becuz I was like, who is going to read it anyway. Then I got to thinking who cares, if you read it thanks if not well you should. Now I’m no political science major or authority on anything, but I know when to call bullshyt… And believe the bullshyt flag needs to be thrown these days…

So a little background of myself: I’m ex-military, did my fair share of time in the “Sand Box”. I don’t believe in the war but I do believe in the troops. I’m a darker skinned American. I do not classify myself as African American because I was born and raised in America.

The way I see it, people that were born in Italy are Italian, if you were born in France you are French, but only here in America are born citizens divided it up into groups basically by the color of your skin. I think that’s one BIG problem with the country. People want unity in the country, but we choose to separate ourselves and/or let the gov’t separate us.

But back to myself, I consider myself to be “Conservatively Liberal all while being Liberally Conservative.” Like I think people, being people, should be able to make there own decisions, and the government should not be allowed to dictate that to an extreme extent. Laws are supposed to made to protect are day to day living, recently I feel that laws (and taxes for that matter) are being created to control are day to day living. I think some of the decisions our “voices of the people” elected officials are making dances on the line of fascist.

Laws should be developed with this notion in mind: How does the action affect the day to day living of Americans?

Gay marriage (for example), while I really don’t want to see to men getting it on, If they want to marry each other, how does that affect my day to day living…. IT DOESN’T! Abortion, I really have no position, but it is the choice of the mother AND the father of the child. If the father has no choice in the abortion matter (which he doesn’t) then the game is messed up. Some fathers want to have the child, but if the mother doesn’t she can cut sling load and baby gone. Flip side, if the mother wants to have the child and the father doesn’t; out comes baby and child support ensues. We gotta level the playing field (not just in abortion). Bottom line: How does aborting a child affect my day to day living, IT DOESN’T! In fact maybe people should have thought about the procedure instead of popping out sick psychopaths like, Jeffrey Domer, or Bin Laden or even Tom Cruise… Death penalty, I’m all for it, but if its applicable to men it should equally applicable to women. I’m all for the ownership of guns, though I may not understand why a person needs a fully automatic rifle, but if he/she wants one, as long as they go about getting the right way, and are not using it to harm other human beings; more power to them. I can go on and on!

Bottom line if it doesn’t affect me or my immediate, why the heck should it be outlawed.
